Streetsport rewarded with donation of over £6,000 from VINCI UK Foundation
The Denis Law Legacy Trust and its flagship programme Streetsport were last week awarded a donation of over £6,000 from the VINCI UK Foundation.
The incredibly generous amount has been earmarked for two exciting purchases to further improve the youth participant experience at sessions;
6 brand new LED floodlights to illuminate Streesport’s nightly sessions through autumn and winter.
The renovation of Streetsport’s 3 vans so that more sport and creative equipment can be stored neatly and space efficiently.
Stay tuned for images of the new purchases!
Thanks to all at both VINCI UK Foundation and Omexom for their support, in particular Steve Mosley who was pictured alongside Hannah Clews, Mark Williams and Findlay Harkins.

VINCI UK Foundation awards over £6k to Scottish youth sport charity
The Denis Law Legacy Trust, an Aberdeen-based charity that provides sporting activities to young people in deprived areas, has been awarded £6,117 by the VINCI UK Foundation to improve social integration and cohesion.
VINCI UK Foundation has awarded £6,117 to the Denis Law Legacy Trust, an Aberdeen-based charity that provides pop-up sporting activities for young people in deprived areas around the city. The money awarded to the Trust will go towards purchasing new mobile flood lights, as well as decking out the charity’s three kit vans.
The programme, known as Streetsport, was established in 2006 as a partnership between RGU Sport, Gray's School of Art and Police Scotland. Initially running as a part-time programme delivered by volunteers in a handful of locations, the programme has developed over the years and is now a full-time programme operating across Aberdeen every weeknight, with several paid members of staff. Mark Williams is the charity’s Chief Operations Officer.
“This fantastic support from the VINCI UK Foundation helps us on many levels,” said Mark.
“We have three vans that are not being used to their full potential, and the help from the Foundation will enable us to fit them out and provide more equipment for our participants; it will also help us to look after the kit better.
“In addition, the floodlights will not only mean we can host longer sessions but also introduce new ones in areas we are not currently operating in during the winter months. This support will help us take another step forward in providing more free-of-charge opportunities for more of the young people that need our help the most.
“We are very grateful to the VINCI UK Foundation for this support, and we look forward to working closely with them in future.”
More than just financial aid
Something that sets the VINCI UK Foundation apart from other funding providers is that VINCI employees, from apprentices to senior management, dedicate some of their time to providing practical support to these organisations and projects.
Working closely with the Denis Law Legacy Trust is Steve Mosley, Information & Communication Manager at Omexom, which is part of VINCI Energies UK & RoI. Steve is a project sponsor and works with the charity directly. He has worked to get the funding approved and will continue to support Streetsport throughout the year, volunteering to help run its activities.
Ruth Ottley, head coordinator of the VINCI UK Foundation, said: “The Denis Law Legacy Trust is a prime example of the type of charity we love to support. The phenomenal work they do to support their local community is extremely admirable, and I’m proud that – with our help – they will be able to expand their operations to help more young people.”
