Community Sports Festival Coming to ASV This Summer
Aberdeen will once again welcome the Denis Law Legacy Trust Community Festival from 21 - 30 July, with a packed timetable of free family sport and activities on offer including a family fun day and football tournaments for varying ages and abilities.
The festival, hosted at the Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV), will see over a week of free activity ran in partnership with Denis Law Legacy Trust, the Scottish Football Association and Aberdeen & District Juvenile Football Association.
Also returning to the festival this year is the Sport di Strada, named in recognition of Denis Law’s period of playing in Italy, which brings young people from communities around the city where Denis Law Legacy Trust operates together to compete against each other. Last year saw the biggest ever Sport di Strada tournament triumphantly kick off the festival.
The festival is endorsed by Aberdeen’s favourite son Denis Law, football icon and Patron of Denis Law Legacy Trust, who remains Scotland’s only winner of the prestigious Ballon d’Or.
Denis Law, who has a statue at both ASV and in the city centre said “I believe that the Community Festival in Aberdeen is testament to the positives and enjoyment that young people get from sport. I especially hope that families will enjoy and take advantage of the festival and free activities on offer.”
The full timetable for the festival can be viewed on the ASV website and features a full schedule of free activities, including cycling, rugby, swimming, table tennis, and plenty of football.
ASV’s Head of Sport & Events, Graham Morrison, said: “The Denis Law Legacy Trust Community Festival is a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to get together to celebrate and participate in sport.”
“The festival also includes a variety of other activities to ensure children can participate in a range of sports encouraging physical activity and likewise there is a selection of classes for adults also. We are very fortunate to work with a number of key partners in the city allowing us to offer such a variety of incredible sporting and fitness opportunities to the community this summer”.

Denis Law Legacy Trust is a registered charity that operates and delivers a number of impactful programmes that aim to support and empower young people to engage in free sport and creative activities within their local communities throughout Aberdeen city.
Primarily through Streetsport, its flagship programme, the Trust aims to reduce instances of youth crime and anti-social behaviour; promote health and wellbeing and encourage inclusivity through sport, physical activity and creative endeavour. Like all Denis Law Legacy Trust activities, Streetsport sessions are entirely free to access for participants.
The Community Festival will end on a high on Sunday 30 July with an action-packed day consisting of the girl’s festival, family fun day and a 4v4 football festival.
