Gary Neville Headlines Record-Breaking Annual Fundraising Dinner
Children’s charity, Denis Law Legacy Trust had its most successful Annual Fundraising Dinner ever at the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa, thanks to the generosity of sponsors, partners and guests.
Headlined by Manchester United and England icon, Gary Neville, the occasion raised money in aid of Denis Law Legacy Trust’s range of free-to-access programmes and activities which support and empower young people to thrive.
Chairman, Scott McGinigal and Chief Operating Officer, Mark Williams provided an update on the last 12 months at Denis Law Legacy Trust, which included highlights such as the launch of the Denis Law RGUplus Award, grand opening of the Cruyff Court Willie Miller and the Volunteer Transfer with Foundation 92 – the Class of ’92’s charity in Salford.
Once again hosted by Alex Fleming, the live auction raised a fantastic amount for the charity with several money cannot buy prizes, such as a 5-a-side football match against the Class of ’92 and the opportunity to join Sir Alex Ferguson as his personal guests at Old Trafford. Also raising vital funds, the occasion featured a successful online silent auction, raffle and Gary Neville signed shirt raffle.
Held on the 60th anniversary of Denis Law winning the coveted Ballon d’Or, one highlight from the evening saw trustee, Gary Law present long-time volunteer, Andy Hall with a framed Scotland shirt signed by Joe Jordan - one of his all-time football heroes.
Comedian and poet Eric Davidson also provided entertainment on the night alongside a reading of his celebrated ‘Last King of Scotland’ poem, which is based on Denis Law’s glittering football career.
Mark Williams, Chief Operating Officer, Denis Law Legacy Trust said “Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, partners and guests, this year has been a record-breaking Annual Fundraising Dinner, with proceeds raised going directly towards supporting our frontline programmes and activities that support young people to thrive.
