CLUB 10 Receives Essential Support from Trusthouse Charitable Foundation

The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation awarded Denis Law Legacy Trust’s CLUB 10 programme, which supports families and young people affected by imprisonment, a grant of £45,000 over 3 years.

Delivered in partnership with Robert Gordon University, CLUB 10 aims to provide positive opportunities & experiences that empower young people and their families affected by imprisonment: whilst promoting health and wellbeing through sport, physical activity, and creative endeavour.

Through activity sessions held within the community or at HMP & YOI Grampian, the programme seeks to strengthen relationships between people in prison and their families, through sport and creative activities such as badminton, mini-golf and bowling.

The programme is also run with support from Families Outside, the Scottish Prison Service and Central Coaches – who play a key role in reducing barriers to accessing support by providing free transportation for the families and participants involved.

Denis Law Legacy Trust’s Kiana Coutts organises and delivers the CLUB 10 programme.

Kiana Coutts, Outreach Development Officer, Denis Law Legacy Trust said “We are delighted to have the generous support of the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation. Thanks to their support, we can continue to strengthen relationships between people in prison and their families while providing a safe space for personal growth, well-being and peer support.”

Mark Williams, Chief Operating Officer, Denis Law Legacy Trust said “This support highlights the essential role of CLUB 10 in providing positive opportunities and experiences to families and young people who have been affected by imprisonment. We are incredibly grateful to the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation for supporting our work in addressing disadvantage and providing opportunities through CLUB 10.”

Last year, CLUB 10 played an essential role in the landmark ‘Game with Mum and Dad initiative where children got to play a game of football with their mum, dad or caregiver behind prison walls. The initiative was part of a Children of Prisoners Europe Campaign and marked the first of its kind in Scotland.

CLUB 10 is one of Denis Law Legacy Trust’s key programmes. The Trust is a children’s charity that operates and delivers a number of free to access programmes and positive destination activities for young people.
