Denis Law Legacy Trust and Foundation 92 Host Volunteer Transfer
Foundation 92 and Denis Law Legacy Trust hosted their inaugural Volunteer Transfer which saw volunteers working across both charities’ key programmes, swapping places for a weeklong exchange to experience new cultures, people and places.
The aim of the exciting initiative is to support Foundation 92 and Denis law Legacy Trust to develop and learn from one another to shape the future legacy of the organisations for its participants and volunteers.
Over the course of a week, Foundation 92 welcomed volunteers from the Denis Law Legacy Trust to Salford to experience the charity's popular holiday camps and clubs whilst also sampling local life and watching Salford City FC take on Preston North End. At the same time, volunteers from Foundation 92 headed up to Scotland to visit Aberdeen and experience the work of Denis Law Legacy Trust through Streetsport sessions, before hiking Scolty Hill and visiting Aberdeen FC’s Stadium for an informative tour.
Earlier in the year, the two charities twinned their respective Cruyff Court operations supported by the Johan Cruyff Foundation in a move that will provide a range of positive activities for young people in Aberdeen and Salford.
The Volunteer Transfer has left a lasting positive impact on those who took part, through providing them with valuable new experiences and skills to take back to their organisations.
One Denis Law Legacy Trust Participant said "I really enjoyed the Volunteer Transfer, I managed to build new friendships with people from Foundation 92 and within my own team. It was great to learn about the different things Foundation 92 does around the community and seeing Manchester for the first time was amazing. I would highly recommend the experience to others in future."
A F92 Participant also said "I really enjoyed the experience, the Denis Law Legacy Trust staff were fantastic with us. The stadium tour was brilliant, and I really enjoyed the hike to Scolty Hill. It was great to work with the Streetsport staff during the evenings, to see the sessions first hand was very impressive. I’d like to thank Foundation 92 and the Denis Law Legacy Trust for this incredible experience.”
